Overview
The cargo compartment is part of the aft fuselage. It is where the passengers bags are stowed. It also keeps other equipment and various items.
The cargo compartment is located between the aft lavatory baggage bulkhead at FS635.00 and the aft pressure bulkhead at FS669.00. The cargo compartment is also referred to as the baggage compartment. The volume of the cargo compartment is approximately 110 cubic feet (3.12 m).
The internal baggage area can be accessed in flight by a doorway in the lavatory. Cargo can be loaded through a exterior door located at FS653.00 which measures 24 inches (60.96 mm) by 30 inches (76.20 mm). The baggage is held in place by retention nets on either side of the internal baggage doorway. Retractable shelves are provided for stacking baggage. A stowable coat rod is also provided for additional clothing storage. The cargo compartment has overhead lighting and a smoke detector.
