Air Turbine Starter (ATS) over-servicing:
Oil leakage may be the result of over-servicing the ATS with oil. The excess oil will exit the Gear Housing through a vent hole on top of the ATS Housing. This oil leaking could make it's way to the V-band clamp, possibly inducing the tech to think that a seal is leaking. Check if oil is seeping through the vent hole at the top of the ATS - adjust oil quantity as required, clean up. If oil is not coming out of the vent, one of the seals is leaking.
