Nose Wheel and Tire

The nose wheel is a two wheel half assembly made of forged aluminum. The two wheel halves are held together by eight equally spaced bolts, sixteen washers, and eight self-locking nuts.

A tubeless-tire inflation valve is installed in the outer wheel half. An overinflation plug is installed opposite the tire inflation valve. The overinflation plug will break at a pressure of 200 - 250 psi (1378.92 - 1723.65 kPa) and deflate the tire if the tire is overinflated. When the overinflation plug breaks, the wheel and tire assembly will need to be removed completely for repair.

A water deflector shield is installed on each side of each wheel. This gives protection to the bearings from the water spray caused by the mating of the wheel and tire assembly with a wet runway.

The tire is a radial, 10 ply tubeless tire which is 18 in high by 5.5 in wide. The nose tire is inflated with nitrogen to a pressure of 109 - 114 psi (751.51 - 785.98 kPa). The tire has a chine with a groove on each side. The grooves move water and slush away from the tire to make sure that the tire will not hydroplane.
