Message Overview:

R ENG OIL TEMP HIGH
(Caution)

DDG Reference: None
Pilot Action (QRH): NNC-15-2
System Description: 79-00-00
Schematic Diagram: 79-31-00
Wiring Diagram: 79-31-05

Message Description:

The amber 'R ENG OIL TEMP HIGH' caution CAS message indicates the engine oil temperature is too high.

  • The oil temperature transmitter provides a continuous indication of the oil temperature. The transmitter is a nickel wire resistance type detector mounted on the AGB oil tank below the fuel heater/oil cooler measures oil temperature. The oil temperature transducer sends data through the ECU to the EICAS. The temperature indication is shown on the engine indication system (EIS) area of the EICAS display.
  • The Affected thrust lever should be reduced to prevent damage to the engine systems.

NOTE: Upon reduction of engine power, the oil temperature may rise initially due to a reduction in fuel flow through the Fuel Heater Oil Cooler.

Possible Causes:

  • Wiring Harness (W4)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Interrogate the MDC as follows:

    1. On the cursor control panel, ensure the toggle switch is to the right and select Anti-Ice, ECS and Fuel buttons simultaneously. The MDC main menu should now be displayed on Display Unit #3.
    2. Using the joystick, select Current Faults (if the fault is active) or Aircraft History to research stored faults. From Aircraft History you can then select Fault Message History and locate the air condition fault logged.
    3. Select the MDC fault from the drop down below to provide additional information to assist in troubleshooting.

MCID codes can be entered also, these codes are embedded in the MDC system under each equation ID. # and will be displayed either way.
