Troubleshooting Recommendations:
- If the starter does not engage at all and the 'L STARTER FAIL' CAS message is illuminated, assure that the 28 VDC Left Essential Bus 5 amp CB CB5-A2 (L ATS/HYD SOL) is set on the A35 Left-hand DC Power Center.
- Verify the 28 VDC voltage is at the W4P6 pin A at the starter. (if not troubleshoot the power wire from the LH DCPC to the starter).
- Ring through the starter solenoid, pins A to B, there should be continuity. If not replace the starter.
- With W4P6 starter solenoid removed, check for a ground on pin B, should be open. Momentarily place the right hand starter in start, a ground should be supplied to pin B of W4P6. (if not, check the wiring to the FADEC. (Channel A pin 96 connector W6P2/A43J2) (Channel B pin 96 W6P3/A41J2).
Troubleshooting Continuation Both Sides:
- Interrogate the MDC, look for and troubleshoot the following equations or MCID Codes related to the starter:
