Message Overview:

Message Name:

GROUND SPOILERS CHATTERING

Identifier: 276OBS002
Effectivity: AIRCRAFT 20501 - 20999
System: Hydraulics
Associated CAS: None
System Description: 27-63-00
Schematic Diagram: None
Wiring Diagram: None

Message Description:

The lack of hydraulic pressure and/or the hydraulic fluid temperature have a direct impact on the GSSVs that are causing the spoilers chattering. No troubleshooting action is required.

Possible Causes:

  • Flight Guidance Computer (FGC) (A4-FGC)
  • Pitch Servo
  • Aileron Servo
  • Yaw Damper (YD)
  • Flight Control Panel (FCP)
  • Lack of hydraulic pressure
  • High hydraulic fluid temperature

Troubleshooting Tips:

Forum Articles/Infoservice/Newsletter: None

With the DCMPs providing the hydraulics, the user may hear or feel the spoilers chattering/shuddering when they are deployed due to insufficient fluid volume.

Also, the use of the Engine Driven Pump increase the hydraulic fluid temperature that have a impact on the GSSV internal springs. It is suggested to shutdown the EDP and park the aircraft in a colder area to let the hydraulic fluid cool down (less than 110°F) before trying any spoilers movements.
