Toilet Control Cable Assembly (Shaw Aero Devices) CMM 38−31−49

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

Condition #1:

The contents of the toilet tank assembly leak to the aircraft service panel drain valve. This condition takes place because there is a misalignment between the toilet tank assembly and the drain valve assembly, which causes the secondary pulley bracket to move.

Maintenance action: Maintenance can visually inspect the area to determine the condition between the toilet seat valve and the valve seal.

Temporary fix: Realign the valve seal with the seat valve.

Permanent fix: Comply with BA Service Bulletin 100-25-20.

Condition #2:
The contents of the toilet assembly tank leak due blockage at the vent line because there is no filter to prevent any unwanted material from inside the tank from going into the vent line.

Maintenance action: Maintenance can visually inspect the tube by disconnecting the flexible tube and see if any obstructions occur.

Temporary fix: Maintenance can try to pass a small plastic tube trough the vent tube or use the toilet CMM to remove and clean the vent tube.

Permanent fix: Comply with BA Service Bulletin 100-25-20.

Condition #3:
The contents of the toilet have leaked into the waste drain. This is because the toilet tank's drain valve fails to provide an effective seal due to a few layers of the fiberglass/ epoxy overlaps the outside diameter of the drain valve seat.

Maintenance action: Maintenance can visually inspect the waste drain for some layers of the fiberglass/ epoxy overlaps.

Temporary fix: Remove and replace the toilet if that condition occurs.

Permanent fix: Comply with BA Service Bulletin 100-25-20.

Condition #4:

The contents of the toilet have leaked into the waste drain. This is because the toilet tank's drain valve fails to provide an effective seal due to improper Toilet Control Cable tension.

Maintenance Action: Perform a tension check of the Toilet Control Cable (CMM 38-31-49)

Permanent Fix: Remove and replace the Toilet Control Cable.
