Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Message Description:

The Main Entry Door (MED) seems stiff or slow to open in the beginning of the opening sequence.

Possible Causes:

  • Passenger (PAX) Door Telescopic Struts
  • PAX Door Actuator (MPE33)
  • Relay (K191)
  • Relay (K193)
  • Associated Wiring

NOTE: If the problem occurs in cold weather, door can be cleaned with alcohol and dried to remove any residual moisture.

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Perform a general visual inspection of the door.

    1. If defects are found, rectify as required.
    2. If no defects are found, continue with next step.

  2. Make sure the door is properly lubricated.
  3. Inspect the telescopic struts.

    1. If the struts are found leaking or damaged, rectify as required.
    2. If the condition of the struts is good, continue with next step.

  4. Perform the adjustment of the PAX door telescopic struts. Is the problem still present?

    1. If YES, continue with next step.
    2. If NO, do close out.

  5. Perform an electrical check of relays K191 and K193 using SSM 52-11-00.

    1. If the relays function properly and all contacts are open/close as per drawing, continue with next step.
    2. If defects are found, rectify as required.

  6. Replace the PAX door actuator.
  7. Do close out.
