WHITE MESSAGE
Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Message Description:

The amber 'ELEC HYD GEN FAIL' caution CAS message indicates the hydraulic powered generator is unavailable. Five seconds after the selection of the Hydraulic Motor Driven Generator to ON, the line contactor is still OPEN, or the HMDG is selected to ON and the line contactor is open for at least 20 seconds.

  • Emergency DC-Power System Component(s)

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Do the Operational Test of the Hydraulic-Motor Driven Generator (HMDG).

    1. If the test is satisfactory, no more action is required.
    2. If the test is not satisfactory, continue with the next step.

  2. Go to one of the following MDC Troubleshooting procedures if present during the Operational Test:
