Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Message Description:

Parity mismatch in the Configuration Strapping Unit 2 in word 0 or word 1.

Possible Causes:

  • Options Control Module 2 (OCM) (A4-OCM)
  • Configuration Strapping Unit 2 (CSU) (A4-CSU)
  • Input/Output Concentrator Unit (IOC) (A4-IOC)
  • Integrated Avionics Processor System (IAPS) Card Cage (ICC) (A4)

  • The options that are installed on the aircraft control the OCM dash number used on the CSU and therefore define the setting of the bits of the word 0. Refer to the supplemental maintenance manual for a full list of options installed on your aircraft.

  • Switch UP or Strap present = Logic 0.
  • Switch Down or Strap broken out = Logic 1.
  • Parity bit (16) is set to 1 if an EVEN number of bits 1-15 are set.

Strapping for CSU 1 & 2 can be compared by simultaneously looking at CSU DATA (LEFT) and CSU DATA (RIGHT) on the MDC CONFIGURATION DATA page.

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Do the Configuration Setting of the Configuration Strapping Unit. Re-configure as required.

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  2. Swap OCMs.

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  3. Swap CSUs.

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  4. Swap IOCs.

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  5. Replace IAPS Card Cage.
  6. Do close out.
