Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Message Description:

Internal Proximity Sensor Electronic Unit fault: Subsystem, CAN intercommunication or critical I/O interface. PSEU requires replacement.

Possible Causes:

  • Proximity-Sensor Electronic Unit (PSEU) (A9)
  • Proximity Sensor (PX)
  • Discrete Input / Discrete Output (DIN / DOT)
  • Associated Wiring

Fault Confirmation Procedure: Download and review the NVM of the MDC and the PSEU prior to troubleshooting the 'PROX SYS FAULT' as it may be tied to another CAS or fault.

NOTE: The NVM of the PSEU requires a decoder which is available at the Customer Response Center.

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Pull and reset the PSEU gear system breakers (CB1-C13, CB1-C14, CB2-C13, CB2-C14, recheck the system for the fault.

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  2. Check the PSEU connector A9BP1, 28 VDC (≥ 22 VDC) power should be on the PINS 3A, 4A, 3C, 4C, 7K, 8K, 7H, 8H  ≥ 22 VDC. Grounds should be on the PINS 3H, 4H, 3K, 4K, 7A, 8A, 7C, 8C connector A9BP1. Repair as required.

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  3. Check the ARINC 429 data bus from the PSEU A9CP1 PINS 1B, 2B to IAPS A4P1 PINS 61, 62, and PSEU A9CP1 PINS 1B, 2B to DCU PINS A14DP1 1A, 1B. Repair as required.

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  4. Replace the PSEU.
  5. Functional test of the PSEU.
