RED MESSAGE (CAUTION)
AMBER MESSAGE (ADVISORY)
CYAN MESSAGE (STATUS)
WHITE MESSAGE Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Message Description:

LDS-1 data bus is absent at least 2 of (L-PFD, L-MFD, R-PFD, R-MFD).

Possible Causes:

  • Adaptive Flight-Display Unit PFD2 (A26)
  • Adaptive Flight-Display Unit PFD1 (A27)
  • Adaptive Flight-Display Unit MFD2 (A28)
  • Adaptive Flight-Display Unit MFD1 ( A29)
  • Lightning Detection Processor (LDU) (A77)
  • Junction Box 1 (JB1)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Reset Lighting DET Circuit Breaker CB3-E3. Is the fault message still present?

    1. If NO, do close out.
    2. If YES, continue with next step.

  2. Do wiring check between LDU (A77), through JB1, to the 4 Adaptive Display Unit (A26, A27, A28, and A29) for the following wires:

    Conn. A77P2 - 38 Conn. A27P2 - 86
    Conn. A77P2 - 21 Conn. A27P2 - 87

    Conn. A77P2 - 21 Conn. A28P2 - 87
    Conn. A77P2 - 38 Conn. A29P2 - 86
    Conn. A77P2 - 21 Conn. A29P2 - 87

    1. If check is satisfactory, continue with next step.
    2. If check is not satisfactory, repair defective wiring or replace JB1.

  3. Disconnect L PFD. Is the fault message still present?

    1. If NO, replace defective Adaptive Display Unit.
    2. If YES, continue with next step.
      NOTE: An internal short circuit of the ARINC receiver could result in a transmission failure for the LDS-1 data bus.

  4. Disconnect L MFD. Is the fault message is still present?

    1. If NO, replace defective Adaptive Display Unit.
    2. If YES, continue with next step.
      NOTE: An internal short circuit of the ARINC receiver could result in a transmission failure for the LDS-1 data bus.

  5. Disconnect R MFD. Is the fault message is still present?

    1. If NO, replace defective Adaptive Display Unit.
    2. If YES, continue with next step.
      NOTE: An internal short circuit of the ARINC receiver could result in a transmission failure for the LDS-1 data bus.

  6. Disconnect R PFD. Is the fault message is still present?

    1. If NO, replace defective Adaptive Display Unit.
    2. If YES, continue with next step.
      NOTE: An internal short circuit of the ARINC receiver could result in a transmission failure for the LDS-1 data bus.

  7. Replace LDU (A77).
  8. Do close out.
