Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. MCID 1015 fault only is present, troubleshoot using the following steps for aircraft and engine fault isolation with reference to the Light Engine Maintenance Manual TASK 72-00-00-810-170.
  2. Disconnect and examine the OIL CHIP DETECTOR ZAP connector W4P10 for damaged wires and other damage. (Refer to LEMM TASK 76-10-01-050-801, Removal.)
  3. Measure the resistance at the chip detector as shown in the list below. The measured resistance must be 18 to 22 kΩ. If the resistance is not within the range given, replace the chip detector.

    Connector Pin Reading
    Chip Detector 1, 2 18 to 22 kΩ

  4. Do a internal short check as shown in the lists below. The measured resistance must be less than 5 ohms. If the resistance is not within the range given, replace the chip detector

    Connector Pin Reading
    W4P10 1, 2

  5. Measure the resistance at each pin to the case of the chip detector. The measured resistance must be greater than 50 MΩ. If the resistance is not within the range given, replace the chip detector.
  6. Disconnect and examine the INTERFACE connector W4P1 and the INTERFACE connector W6J5 for damaged wires and other damage. (Refer to LEMM TASK 76-10-01-050-801, Removal).
  7. Do a continuity check as shown in the list below. No open circuits allowed.

    Connector Pin Connector Pi. Reading
    W4P10 1 W6P2 75 > 1Ω
    W4P10 2 W6P2 76 > 1Ω
    W4P10 1 W6P3 75 > 1Ω
    W4P10 2 W6P3 76 > 1Ω

  8. Reconnect all the connectors. (Refer to LEMM TASK 76-10-01-450-801, Installation).
  9. Troubleshoot the aircraft oil chip detector circuit. (Refer to the Aircraft Maintenance Manual).
