  • AW300-32-0078 - Main Wheel Assembly - Introduction of Improved Fuse Plug Assembly

Forum Articles/Infoservice/Newsletter: None

Operators have reported main tire pressure loss at wheel fuse plugs assembly. The fuse plugs that were returned to Goodrich were confirmed leaking after investigation. Operators should be aware that Goodrich has issued Service Bulletin 3-1609-32-2 to introduce an improved fuse plug assembly, part number (P/N) 542-7. This assembly contains a new thermal relief plug, P/N 49-413, and a new o-ring, P/N 68-1606.

The thermal relief plug body has been changed from steel to aluminum. Goodrich has also changed the o-ring, based on the supplier's recommendations, for better o-ring stretch and squeeze. There is no change to the thermal performance of the new plug since the fusible material did not change.

A magnet can be used to differentiate the current thermal relief plug from the new one, the new thermal relief plug assembly is not magnetic and has a "W" engraved at its end.

Goodrich is offered the new fuse plug assembly free of charge for all in-service aircraft and spare wheels for the initial replacement. This was a one time free of charge offer that was valid until June 30, 2008, please refer to AW300-32-0078 for the details.
