Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Message Description:

The amber 'ALT' caution flag identifies that the ADC altitude is split or the ADCs can not cross compare to each other.

  • Pitot tube obstructions and alignment, or ADC accuracy, for splits (Severe cross wind conditions could be responsible). Cross comparator problems could be associated with a bad IOC, ADC or Data bus failure.
  • MDC trouble shooting information may help isolate data validity, prior to component replacement and databus ring-out.

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

With the Baro adjustment set to field elevation, compare altimeter indications are within 25 ft. If there is a split, determine which ADC is bad by performing the ADC system checkout, AMM 34-13-01-720-801.
