Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Message Description:

Failure or problem is reported in the left HF fiber optic control.

  • Fiber optic control bus fault (Label 351 - Bit 25)

Possible Causes:

  • Left HF Transceiver (HF) 1 (A61)
  • Left HF Antenna Coupler (CP5)
  • Associated Wiring (Fiber Optic Cable)

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Reset HF 1 Circuit Breaker CB1-B3 and HF 1 PWR Circuit Breaker CB5-A1. Is the fault message still present?
    1. If YES, continue with next step.
    2. If NO, do close out.

  2. Swap Left HF Transceiver (A61) with right HF Transceiver (A62). Is the fault message still present?

    1. If YES, continue with next step.
    2. If NO, replace defective HF Transceiver.

  3. Swap Left HF Antenna Coupler (CP5) with right HF Antenna Coupler (CP6). Is the fault message still present?

    1. If YES, continue with next step.
    2. If NO, replace defective HF Antenna Coupler.

  4. Inspect/check Optical Fiber Cables integrity as per SPM 20-51-00-02. Repair/Replace as required.
