Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Message Description:

Single APU SQUIB bridgewire B open, wire open, or FIREX Control Unit input monitoring circuit failed.

Possible Causes:

  • APU Discharge Cartridge (A115) of Fire Bottle No. 2
  • Fire Detection and Extinguishing (FIREX) Control Unit (A91)
  • Junction Box 4 (JB4)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Pull and reset FIREX Control Unit (A91) circuit breakers CB6-A4 and CB5-A3. Is the fault message still present?

    1. If YES, continue with next step.
    2. If NO, do close out.

  2. Do wiring check between APU Discharge Cartridge (A115) of Bottle 2 to FIREX Control Unit (A91), through JB 4, for the following wires:

    From To Results
    Conn A115P1 - 3 Conn A91P2 - 24
    Conn A115P1 - 4 Ground
    Conn A91P2 - 16 Ground

    1. If check is not satisfactory, repair wiring or replace JB 4.
    2. If check is satisfactory, continue with next step.

  3. Swap APU Discharge Cartridge (A115) of Fire Bottle no. 2 with one of the Engine Discharge Cartridge (A113 or A114) of Fire Bottle no. 2. Is the message fault still present?

    1. If YES, continue with next step.
    2. If NO, replace defective Discharge Cartridge.

  4. Replace FIREX Control Unit (A91).
  5. Do close out.
