Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Message Description:

Single left engine bottle 1 bridgewire A failed open, wire open, or FIREX Control Unit input monitoring circuit failed.

Possible Causes:

  • Left Engine Discharge Cartridge (A111) of Fire Bottle No. 1
  • Fire-Detection-and-Extinguishing Control Unit (FIREX CU) (A91)
  • Junction Box 3 (JB3)
  • Associated Wiring

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CIRCUITS ARE NOT ENERGIZED WHEN YOU CONNECT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR TO THE DISCHARGE CARTRIDGE. IF THE ELECTRICAL CIRCUITS ARE ENERGIZED, THE DISCHARGE CARTRIDGE CAN FIRE ACCIDENTALLY. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Pull and reset FIREX Control Unit (A91) circuit breakers CB6-A4 and CB5-A3. Is the fault message still present?

    1. If YES, continue with next step.
    2. If NO, do close out.

  2. Do wiring check between Left Engine Discharge Cartridge (A111) of Bottle 1 to FIREX Control Unit (A91), through JB3, for the following wires:

    From To Results
    Conn A111P1 - 1 Conn A91P1 - 25
    Conn A111P1 - 2 Ground

    1. If check is not satisfactory, repair wiring or replace JB3.
    2. If check is satisfactory, continue with next step.

  3. Swap Left Engine Discharge Cartridge (A111) of Fire Bottle no. 1 with Right Engine Discharge Cartridge (A112) of Fire Bottle no. 1. Is the message fault still present?

    1. If YES, continue with next step.
    2. If NO, replace defective Discharge Cartridge.

  4. Replace FIREX Control Unit (A91).
  5. Do close out.
