Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Message Description:

Internal failure to Spoiler Electronic Unit 1 (SECU 1). Possible internal memory or processor problem.

Possible Causes:

  • Spoiler Electronic-Control Unit 1 (SECU 1) (A118)
  • Throttle Quadrant Assembly (TQA) (A51)
  • Associated Wiring

  • SPOILER FAULT EICAS messages caused by TQA
    If you experience a 'SPOILER FAULT' - Amber or Cyan EICAS message, combined with a B3-007883 and/or B3-007916 MDC fault in the CURRENT FAULTS and/or FAULT HISTORY, in order to prevent an unnecessary removal, perform MDC and SECU NVM download. If the fault was triggered by "LTQAIdSwID" or "RTQAIdSwID" in the SECU NVM replacing the TQA will fix the issue.

  • Reset SECU1 circuit breaker 'SPOILER CTRL 1' CBP1-B9 if any of the inboard MFS and GS #2, #4, #5 and #7 surface indication are amber or magenta.
  • Reset SECU2 circuit breaker 'SPOILER CTRL 2' CBP2-B9 if any of the inboard MFS and GS #1, #3, #6 and #8 surface indication are amber or magenta.

NOTE: It is not permissible to cycle the SECU 1 or 2 circuit breakers in the air.

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Follow the circuit breakers reset procedure documented in AW300-27-0037.

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  2. Do Electronic Rigging of the Spoiler Electronic Control Unit.

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  3. Visually inspect SECU's and tray's connectors for damages. Repair/replace as required.

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  4. Swap SECUs.
    NOTE: An Electronic Rigging of the SECUs is necessary after a swap or a SECU replacement.

    1. If the fault follows, replace defective SECU.
    2. If the fault does not follow, perform SB350-76-001.
    3. If the fault still remains, replace TQA.

  5. Do close out.
