Message Overview:

Message Name:

NO COMM WITH FQGC

Message Code:

B3-006796

Associated CAS:

None

Reporting LRU: FUS R/D PANEL
System Description: 28-40-00
Schematic Diagram: 28-41-00
Wiring Diagram: 28-41-01
31-45-07

Message Description:

No ARINC 429 to the R/D panel (wiring) or TX fault discrete from panel cut (wiring) or defective panel.

  • This MDC fault can be trigger if the batteries are disconnected (during maintenance) and the aircraft is only powered by external DC power. If this is the case, it will be associated with R LOGIC PCB FAIL (B3-007828) and L LOGIC PCB FAIL (B3-007105). The fault will disappear once the batteries are reinstalled.

Possible Causes:

  • Aircraft power-up with external DC power and batteries disconnected during maintenance
  • Refuel/Defuel Control Panel (PL41)
  • Fuel Quantity Gauging Computer (FQGC) (A57)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Tips:

Advisory Wire/Service Bulletin: None

Forum Articles/Infoservice/Newsletter: None

If 'FUS R/D PANEL' is associated with R LOGIC PCB and L LOGIC PCB, verify that the batteries are not disconnected. If it is the case power down the aircraft, connect batteries and re-power the aircraft.

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Verify that the right battery is connected and that MDC faults 'R LOGIC PCB FAIL' (B3-007828) and 'L LOGIC PCB FAIL' (B3-007105) are not displayed in CURRENT FAULTS.

    1. Connect battery or address these faults first.
NOTE: It is normal to have 'R/D PANEL NO COMM WITH FQGC' fault code when the right battery is disconnected and the aircraft is powered with external DC power.

  2. Make sure that CB6-C4 (Refuel/Defuel control) is pushed in.
  3. Make sure the Refuel/Defuel Panel is set to OFF and reset the Fuel Quantity system breakers (CB3-C3, CB4-C3), waiting 10 seconds before pushing the breakers back. If fault continues, go to next step.
  4. If fault appears in the MDC Current Faults with the Refuel/Defuel Panel power switch set to OFF, do the following:

    1. Remove Refuel/Defuel Panel.
    2. Do a wiring check per the following table:

      FROM TO EXPECTED RESULTS
      RDP PL41P1 pin 1 RDP PL41P1 pin 3 ≈ 28V

    3. If power is not available, check CB6-C4 (Refuel/defuel control).
    4. With the Refuel/Defuel Panel switch set to OFF, check for continuity between pins 1 and 2 of back connector.
    5. If there is no continuity, replace Refuel/Defuel Panel.
    6. Do a wiring check per the following table:

      FROM TO EXPECTED RESULTS
      RDP PL41P1 pin 2 FQGC A57BP1 pin 29 Continuity

    7. If wiring is serviceable, go to next step.

  5. Re-rack the Fuel Quantity Gauging Computer (FQGC). Is the fault message still present?

    1. If YES, go to next step.
    2. If NO, do close out.

  6. Replace Fuel Quantity Gauging Computer (FQGC). If fault continues, go to next step.
  7. If fault appears in the MDC Current Faults with the Refuel/Defuel Panel power switch set to ON, do the following.

    1. If there is power to the Refuel/Defuel Panel but the quantities are not displayed, do the following:

      1. Do a wiring check per the following table:

        FROM TO EXPECTED RESULTS
        RDP PL41P1 pin 16 FQGC A57BP1 pin 14 Continuity
        RDP PL41P1 pin 17 FQGC A57BP1 pin 13 Continuity

      2. If no fault found, replace Refuel/Defuel Panel.

    2. If there is power to the Refuel/Defuel Panel and quantities are displayed, do the following:

  8. Do a wiring check per the following table:

    FROM TO EXPECTED RESULTS
    RDP PL41P1 pin 31 FQGC A57BP1 pin 27 Continuity

  9. If no fault found, replace Refuel/Defuel Panel.
  10. Do close out.
