Message Description:
The left DC motor pump brush wear discrete signal is active. DC motor must be replaced.
Possible Causes:
- Left DC Motor Driven-Pump (DCMP) (20 hour extension from original MDC posting) (A71)
- Associated Wiring

When sumping water from affected fuel tank it is preferable to have the fuel probe immersed in fuel, in order for the water to pool at the bottom of the fuel tank.
To get most of the water to the bottom of the tank, do not move aircraft for at least 2 hours before sumping.

Troubleshooting Recommendations:
- Gain access to the MDC by pushing the AICE, ECS and FUEL buttons simultaneously on the Cursor Control Panel.
- Select the CURRENT SERVICE MESSAGES.
- Validate that the message L DC MOTOR PUMP BRUSH WEAR is not displayed.
- If the message is posted in the MDC, proceed with the troubleshooting procedure.
- Pull CB2-C11
- Disconnect connector A71P1 from the left DCMP. Perform a continuity check between A71 pin C and S2.
- If there is continuity, replace the DCMP per AMM within the next 20 flight hours (since original posting of the message in the MDC).
- If there is no continuity, make sure that A71P1 pin C is not grounded.
- If A71P1 pin C is grounded, repair wiring and repeat troubleshooting procedure.
