Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Message Description:

The LEFT ICE DETECTOR is detected failed by the Stall Protection Computer or the discrete wiring to the Stall Protection Computer is failed open circuit.

Possible Causes:

  • Left Ice Detector (A65)
  • Stall Protection Computer (SPC) (A178)
  • Circuit Breaker
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Reset Left Ice Detector circuit breaker CB1-E7. Is the fault message still present?

    1. If YES, continue with next step.
    2. If NO, do close out.

  2. Check for presence of 28 VDC / Ground Returns at the Left Ice Detector (A65) as per the following table:

    Measurement at Expected Results Results
    A65P1 - A 28 VDC
    A65P1 - G 28 VDC
    A65P1 - B Ground
    A65P1 - H Ground

    1. If check is satisfactory, continue with next step.
    2. If check is not satisfactory, repair the defective wire or replace the defective circuit breaker.

  3. Do wiring check between Stall Protection Computer (A178) and Left Ice Detector (A65) for the following wires:

    From To Results
    Conn. A178AP1 - 21 Conn. A65P1 - K

    1. If wiring check is satisfactory, continue with next step.
    2. If wiring check is not satisfactory, repair the defective wire.

  4. Interchange the Left Ice Detector (A65) with the Right Ice Detector (A66). Is the fault message still present?

    1. If YES, continue with next step.
    2. If NO, replace the defective Ice Detector.

  5. Replace the Stall Protection Computer (A178).
  6. Do close out.
