Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Message Description:

Remote Data Concentrator (RDC) channel B buses are reported inoperative by Data Concentrator Unit (DCU) channel A and B.

Possible Causes:

  • Remote Data Concentrator (RDC) (A13)
  • EICAS RDC B Circuit Breaker (CB2-D2)
  • Right Circuit Breaker Control Panel (CBP2)
  • Junction Box 3 (JB3)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Reset EICAS RDC B Circuit Breaker CB2-D2. Is the fault message still present?
    1. If NO, do close out.
    2. If YES, continue with next step.

  2. Disconnect RDC Cooling Fan (A193) connector. Is the fault still present?

    1. If NO, replace defective RDC Cooling Fan (A193).
    2. If YES, continue with next step.

  3. Confirm RDC strapping at RDC (A13).

    Conn. A13CP1-7K Aircraft Ground

    1. If the check is satisfactory, go to next step.
    2. If the check is not satisfactory, repair defective wire.

  4. Confirm presence of the grounds at RDC (A13).

    Conn. A13CP1-2K Aircraft Ground (PWR GND)
    Conn. A13CP1-7C Chassis Ground
    Conn. A13CP1-7D Chassis Ground

    Conn. A13CP1-7H Chassis Ground

    1. If the check is satisfactory, go to next step.
    2. if the check is not satisfactory, repair defective wire.

  5. Confirm presence of the 28 VDC at RDC (A13) and at RDC Cooling Fan (A193).

    Conn. A13CP1-1K 28 VDC
    Conn. A13CP1-1J 28 VDC
    Conn. A193P2-A 28 VDC

    1. If the check is satisfactory, replace defective RDC (A13).
    2. If the check is not satisfactory, go to next step.

  6. Do wiring check between RDC (A13) and the right Circuit Breaker Panel (CBP2) for the following wires:

    From To Result
    Conn. A13CP1-1A Conn. CBP2J1-30
    Conn. A13CP1-1B Conn. CBP2J1-30

    1. If the check is satisfactory, continue with next step.
    2. If the check is not satisfactory, repair defective wiring or defective Junction Box 3.

  7. Replace EICAS RDC B Circuit Breaker CB2-D2. Is the fault message is still present?

    1. If NO, do close out.
    2. If YES, continue with next step.

  8. Replace right Circuit Breaker Panel (CBP2).
  9. Do close out.
