Select color for CAS message that you wish to troubleshoot

(WARNING)
RED MESSAGE (CAUTION)
AMBER MESSAGE (ADVISORY)
CYAN MESSAGE (STATUS)
WHITE MESSAGE Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Possible Causes:

  • Traffic Alert And Collision-Avoidance System (TCAS) Directional Antenna (E10)
  • TCAS Transceiver (A5)
  • Coaxial Cable
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Reset TCAS Circuit Breaker CB1-A6. Is the fault message still present?

    1. If YES, continue with next step.
    2. If NO, do close out.

  2. Dowiring check between TCAS (A5) and the TCAS Upper Antenna (E10) for the following cables:

    From To Results
    Conn. A5AP1 - 1 Conn. E10P1 - 1
    Conn. A5AP1 - 2 Conn. E10P1 - 2
    Conn. A5AP1 - 3 Conn. E10P1 - 3
    Conn. A5AP1 - 4 Conn. E10P1 - 4

    1. If check is satisfactory, continue with next step.
    2. If check is not satisfactory, repair defective cable.

  3. Replace TCAS Upper Antenna (E10). Is the fault message still present?

    1. If YES, continue with next step.
    2. If NO, do close out.

  4. Replace TCAS (A5).
  5. Do close out.
