Wiring Diagram: 34-34-01

Message Description:

SVC is reporting a video output failure.

Possible Causes:

  • Synthetic Vision Computer (SVC) (A230)
  • Video Interface Unit (VIU) (CP32)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Tips:

Advisory Wire/Service Bulletin: None

Forum Articles/Infoservice/Newsletter: None

NOTE: A GPS signal input is required for the SVS image to show on the pilot and the co-pilot primary flight display (PFD).

TIPS: The SVS display is selected on the REFS 2/4 menu. Selection of SVS ON automatically turns on the Flight Path Vector (FPV). The SVS is removed when any of the items that follow occur:

  • SVS is selected OFF
  • SVS fail detected
  • Compressed PFD is selected
  • When an unusual attitude is detected
  • When an attitude fail flag shows
  • Pitch, Roll, or HDG sensors fail
  • Altitude or airspeed fail
  • Video image error detected
  • GPS integrity is insufficient
  • AFD, altitude, airspeed, attitude, pitch, roll, or miscompare detected

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. If the SVS is failed start the APU and power the aircraft.
  2. Let the IRS align.
  3. Go to REFS and select SVS ON. Listen to ATIS and get the current barometric pressure. Enter in the barometric pressure value.
  4. If the SVS system does not start working then make sure the barometric pressure value is entered on the correct side per the FD. Continue with the following steps if this does not resolve the SVS issue.
  5. Reset SVS (CB2-A7) circuit breaker.
    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  6. Do a wiring check of the coaxial cable between SVC connector A230CP1 and VIU connector CP32P1. Repair/replace as required.
    1. If system check are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  7. Replace the SVC.
    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  8. Replace VIU.
  9. Do close out.
