RED MESSAGE (CAUTION)
AMBER MESSAGE (ADVISORY)
CYAN MESSAGE (STATUS)
WHITE MESSAGE Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Message Description:

ARINC 429 L-FSU-1 data bus is reported absent by the Left Input/Output Concentrator (L IOC).

Possible Causes:

  • File Server Unit 1 (FSU 1) (A221)
  • Left Input/Output Concentrator (L IOC) (A4-IOC1)
  • Integrated Avionics Processing System (IAPS) (A4)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Reset L FILE SERVER (CB1-C6) circuit breaker.

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  2. Ensure power and grounds are available at FSU 1.

    28 VDC PWR GND Chassis GND
    A221P1-14 A221P1-47 A221P1-35 A221P1-67 A221P1-68

    1. If 28 VDC and grounds are available at FSU 1 connector A221P1, go to step 4.
    2. If 28 VDC and/or grounds are not available at FSU 1 connector A221P1, continue with next step.

  3. Do wiring check between FSU 1 connector A221P1 and circuit breaker CB1-C6 L FILE SERVER. Replace/repair as required.

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  4. Swap IOCs.

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  5. Swap FSUs.

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  6. Do wiring check of the ARINC 429 L-FSU-1 data bus between FSU 1 connector A221P1 and IAPS connector A4P1. Replace/repair as required.

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.
      NOTE: An internal short of any LRU connected to this data bus may cause the fault.

  7. Replace IAPS Card Cage (ICC).
  8. Do close out.
