Message Description:

One or more overhead monitors displays the wrong logo.

Possible Causes:

This is most probably not a fault, please see description of which customized screens can be displayed in the aircraft.

An aircraft with nice® HD has three options to display custom images on the overhead monitors:

  • Welcome and goodbye screens on niceview™ (moving map system, baseline in CL350 which:

    • Cannot be selected manually. They are automatically displayed by niceview™ (if niceview™ is selected on a monitor) depending on the flight phase.
    • Cannot be customized by customer. They can be customized via system software update by LHT.

  • Customizable welcome and goodbye screens (which do not have to be the same as those shown by niceview™ as per above) which:

    • Can be selected manually to be displayed at any time via galley control panel.
    • Can be temporarily customized by customer. After an exchange or update of Ethernet Interface Unit 0x01 the customized screens will be overwritten by the default screens with the Bombardier logo.
    • Can be permanently customized via system software update by LHT.

  • Splash screen, which:

    • Cannot be selected manually. It is automatically displayed whenever no input has been selected on one monitor.
    • Cannot be customized by customer. It can be customized via system software update by LHT.

Required Conditions:

  1. Ensure CMS/IFE system is booted up completely (power on and wait for about 5 minutes to ensure proper system status reporting).

  • Respective Lufthansa Technik "Engineering Bulletin Component" (EBC) documents are provided on this page as well.

More details in the nice® HD CMS/IFE system are available within the Lufthansa Technik document C-ABT207-UG-001, CL350 nice® HD Technical User Guide (TUG).

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Ensure CMS/IFE system is booted up completely (wait for about 5 minutes after power on).
  2. Display the niceview™ welcome and goodbye screens. During flight phases "at gate before flight" and "at gate after landing", select niceview™ on one or more of the overhead monitors. On the galley control panel:

    1. Go to the home page.
    2. Select the video icon.
    3. Select niceview™.
Depending on the flight phase, a sequence of views will be shown. As a reference only, "at gate before flight" on a CL350 usually shows the following sequence: Welcome, Terrain 2D med res, Flight information, Terrain 2D high res, Globe View.
A similar sequence is shown during "at gate after landing" displaying the goodbye screen.
niceview™ determines what is the current flight phase depending on the available flight data from the ARINC bus. If not all ARINC data required for niceview™ are available, niceview™ might not know what is the current flight phase and skip these phases, not displaying any welcome or goodbye screens.
    4. If the welcome and goodbye screens displayed are not the desired ones, contact Bombardier for a customized niceview™ welcome and goodbye screen quotation.

  3. Display the customizable welcome and goodbye screens on one or more overhead monitors. On the galley control panel :

    1. Go to the home page.
    2. Select the video icon.
    3. Select Passenger info.
    4. Select sequentially welcome and goodbye entries.

  4. If the images displayed are not the desired ones, contact Bombardier for a permanent customized welcome and goodbye screen quotation or follow next steps for temporarily customizing your welcome and goodbye screens:

    1. You will require a laptop, customized image(s) (PNG 1920x1080) and Ethernet cable.
    2. Load customized image(s) in the laptop.
    3. Connect the laptop to the CMS Maintenance Panel via Ethernet cable.
    4. Wait for the laptop to receive an IP-Address from the CMS.
    5. Open the web-browser running on the laptop and open the following URL-Address:http://10.10.10.1/cgi-bin/customize.cgi.
    6. Select Screens.
    7. Select "Welcome Screen".
    8. Select "Choose file" and choose the welcome image.
    9. Select upload.
    10. If desired, repeat g. to i. for the "Goodbye Screen".

  5. Display the splash screen on one or more overhead monitors. On the galley control panel, make sure no input has been assigned to one or both of the overhead monitors:

    1. Go to the home page.
    2. Select the video icon.
    3. Select the source being currently displayed on the monitor(s) (iPod, a/v input, niceview™, etc.).
    4. Select the monitor icon where the source is being currently displayed.
    5. On the LOPA page select the monitor icon with the green check mark. The check mark will disappear and the video will stop.

  6. With no active input in one or more monitors, the splash screen will be displayed on the inactive monitor(s).

    1. If the desired image is not shown, contact Bombardier for a customized splash screen quotation.
    2. If desired splash screen is displayed, do close out

  7. Do close out
