Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Message Description:

The red 'L BATT OVERHEAT' warning CAS message indicates that one of the battery temperature sensor have sense a temperature greater than or equal to 70°C.

  • If both Left Battery Temp Sensors are sensing a over-temp, the following will occur:

    • EFIS Summary and Electrical Pages indicate high left battery temperature.
    • The left battery contactor opens for overheat protection, and amber 'L BATT FAIL' caution message appears on the CAS.

  • Electrical System Component(s)
  • Left Battery (LBATT) (BT1)
  • Remote Data Concentrator (RDC) (A13)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Check for other ATA 24 CAS Messages on EICAS and proceed with respective troubleshooting prior to continue with next step.
  2. Do wiring check of the following wire:

    From To Results
    LBATT conn. BT1P2 - pin C RDC conn. A13AP1 - pin 13F
    LBATT conn. BT1P2 - pin D RDC conn. A13AP1 - pin 13E

    1. If check is not satisfactory, repair/replace defective wire.
    2. If check is satisfactory, continue with next step.

  3. Swap Left Battery (BT1) with Right Battery (BT2). Is the fault still present?

    1. If NO, replace defective Battery.
    2. If YES, continue with next step.

  4. Replace Remote Data Concentrator (A13).
  5. Do close out.
