Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Message Overview

Message Name:

FAILED OFF

Message Code:

B3-006371

Associated CAS:

EQPT RACK TEMP HIGH
(Caution)

EQPT RACK COOL FAULT
(Advisory)

Reporting LRU: AVIONICS FAN
System Description: 21-61-00
Schematic Diagram: 21-23-00
Wiring Diagram: 21-23-05

Message Description:

IASC 1 or IASC 2 has detected a loss of power or a low speed condition for the Avionics Cooling Fan.

Possible Causes:

  • Avionics Cooling Fan (B3)
  • Right DC Power-Center Avionics Cooling Fan Power Relay (K154)
  • Left DC Power-Center Avionics Cooling Fan Power Relay (K153)
  • Right DC Power-Center Avionics Cooling Fan Control Relay (K154)
  • Junction Box 3 (JB3)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Tips:

Advisory Wire/Service Bulletin: None

Forum Articles/Infoservice/Newsletter: None

NOTE:

  • If no rotation from the avionics cooling fan (B3) is sensed within 10 seconds, the avionics cooling valve (MPE14) in the belly goes to open and all power is lost at the avionics cooling fan motor.. Therefore, no voltage at stud T14 and T15 after 10 seconds. So, the avionics cooling fan (B3) is faulty.

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Make sure the EMER DEPRESS PBA is not pushed. (Confirm by PBA light test).
  2. Check that the fan is running.

    1. If fan is running, go to step 7.
    2. If fan is not running, continue with next step.

  3. Do wiring checks between Avionics Fan, LDCPC T15 and RDCPC T14.

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  4. Remove LDCPC and RDCPC one at a time to isolate short circuit. (Replace DCPC or relays K153/K9 inside DCPC as required)

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  5. Do wiring checks between avionics fan B3P1 pin C and GS2173 (aircraft ground).

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, go to step 8.

  6. Do wiring checks between avionics fan, JB3, IASC1 and IASC2.

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  7. Swap IASCs. (IASC1 is the primary controller for the operation of the Fan).

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  8. Replace avionics fan.

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  9. Replace DB2/JB3.
  10. Do close out.
