Message Description:

Integrated Standby Instrument output (BUS ISI-1) is reported missing by the Stall Protection Computer and the Data Concentrator Unit.

Possible Causes:

  • Junction Box 3 (JB3)
  • Integrated Standby Instrument (ISI) (A90)
  • Stall Protection Computer (SPC) (A178)
  • Data Concentrator Unit (DCU) (A14)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Tips:

Forum Articles/Infoservice/Newsletter: None

NOTE: If the 'STALL PROTECT FAIL' message appears after SPC power up, reset the SPC circuit breakers 'SPC CH A' (CBP1-B10) and 'SPC CH B' (CBP2-B10).

NOTE: If the message appears following a PAT, then reset the SPC circuit breakers 'SPC CH A' (CBP1-B10) and "SPC CH B" (CBP2-B10). Perform another PAT and make sure the message does not come back.

NOTE: If the 'STALL PROTECT FAIL' CAS message and associated cascading messages do not clear after performing the steps above, troubleshooting should be performed.

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Reset the STBY INST PBA. Is the fault still present?

    1. If YES, continue with next step.
    2. If NO, do close out.

  2. Reset the following circuit breakers and perform the Pilot Activated Test (PAT) of the Stall Protection System on the Systems Test control-panel located on the center pedestal. Is the fault still present?

    STALL L PWR CB1-B10
    STALL R PWR CB2-B10

    1. If YES, continue with next step.
    2. If NO, do close out.

  3. Perform a wiring check of the ARINC 429 ISI-1 data bus between ISI connector A90P1, Junction Box #3, SPC connectors A178AP1 / A178BP1 and DCU connector A14FP1.
NOTE: An internal short of any LRU connected to this ARINC data bus may cause the fault.

    1. If wiring defects are found, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If no defects are found, continue with next step.

  4. Replace the ISI. Is the fault still present?

    1. If YES, continue with next step.
    2. If NO, do close out.

  5. Replace the SPC.
  6. Do close out.
