Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Message Description:

The Spoiler Electronic Control Unit 2 (SECU2) has detected a Left Throttle Quadrant Assembly (TQA) Idle Switch 2 fault.

This message is caused by a mismatch of the throttle idle switches to the SECUs.

Possible Causes:

  • Left TQA Idle Switch (THROTTLE IDLE LT SW2)
  • Spoiler Electronic-Control Unit 2 (SECU) (A119)
  • Associated Wiring

  • Reset SECU1 circuit breaker 'SPOILER CTRL 1' CBP1-B9 if any of the inboard MFS and GS #2, #4, #5 and #7 surface indication are amber or magenta.
  • Reset SECU2 circuit breaker 'SPOILER CTRL 2' CBP2-B9 if any of the inboard MFS and GS #1, #3, #6 and #8 surface indication are amber or magenta.

NOTE: It is not permissible to cycle the SECU 1 or 2 circuit breakers in the air.

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Swap SECUs.
    NOTE: Perform electronic rigging of both SECUs when either SECU is swapped or replaced. The intent is if a SECU that is being installed was previously rigged in a different location in the same aircraft or it is being installed in a different aircraft or the SECU is a spare part it requires electronic rigging (AMM 27-61-05-820-802) per the instructions in AMM TASK 27-61-05-400-801 Installation of the Spoiler Electronic-Control Unit (SECU).

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  2. Do wiring checks between TQA and SECU2.

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  3. Verify proper operation of TQA Switches at idle and maximum take-off (MTO). If anomalies are detected, replace TQA.
  4. Do close out.
