Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Message Description:

R-FMC-6 data absent at R-PFD and R-MFD.

Possible Causes:

  • L FMS/L PFD Mode Selection
  • R Flight Management Computer (FMC 1) (A4-FMC1)
  • Junction Box 2 (JB2)
  • Right Adaptive Flight-Display Unit (PFD 2) (A26)
  • Right Adaptive Flight-Display Unit (MFD 2) (A28)
  • Integrated-Avionics Processor System (IAPS) Card Cage (ICC) (A4)
  • Associated Wiring

Work Around: Switching to the map function for the Right and / or Left PFD should clear this message.

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Select FMS1 and PPOS Format on L PFD.

    1. If system check passes, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.
      NOTE: Aircraft has to be WOFW for the message to be seen, and logged, on the MDC.

  2. Reset R IAPS (CB2-B6) circuit breaker.

    1. If system check passes, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  3. Do wiring checks of the ARINC 429 data bus R-FMC-6 between IAPS connector A4P103 pins 22 & 24, through Junction Box 2, and L PFD connector A27P2 pins 14 & 15 and L MFD connector A29P2 pins 14 & 15. Repair/replace as required.

    1. If system check passes, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.
      NOTE: An internal short of any LRUs connected to this data bus might cause this failure.

  4. Swap FMCs.

    1. If system check passes, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  5. Swap PFDs.

    1. If system check passes, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  6. Swap MFDs.

    1. If system check passes, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  7. Replace IAPS Card Cage (ICC).
  8. Do close out.
