Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Message Description:

Left MFD data buses are reported absent by Left IOC and reported failed by 2 of the following: Left PFD, Right PFD, Right MFD, and RIU.

Possible Causes:

  • Adaptive Flight-Display Unit (L MFD) (A29)
  • L MFD Circuit Breaker (CB1-C5)
  • Left Cockpit Breaker Panel (CBP1)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Reset L MFD Circuit Breaker CB1-C5. Is the fault message still present?

    1. If NO, do close out.
    2. If YES, continue with next step.

  2. Swap L MFD (A29) with R MFD (A28). Is the fault message still present?

    1. If NO, do close out.
    2. If YES, continue with next step.

  3. Confirm presence of the Ground, and the configuration discrete, at the left MFD (A29).

    1. If the check is not satisfactory, repair defective wiring.

  4. Confirm presence of the 28 VDC at the left MFD (A29).

    1. If the check is not satisfactory, continue with next step.
    2. If the check is satisfactory, do close out.

  5. Do wiring check from L MFD (A29) to Left Cockpit Breaker Panel (CBP1) for the following wire:

    From: To: Result
    Conn. A29P3 - G Conn. CBP1P/J2 - W

    1. If the check is satisfactory, continue with next step.
    2. If the check is not satisfactory, repair wiring.

  6. Replace L MFD Circuit Breaker CB1-C5. Is the fault still present?

    1. If NO, do close out.
    2. If YES, replace defective left Cockpit Breaker Panel (CBP1).

  7. Do close out.
