(WARNING)
RED MESSAGE (CAUTION)
AMBER MESSAGE (ADVISORY)
CYAN MESSAGE (STATUS)
WHITE MESSAGE Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Message Description:

TSS data bus (TA/RA-1) is reported absent by the left MFD, while the left IOC does not receive left PFD data.

Possible Causes:

  • Adaptive Flight-Display Unit 'A429 Input' (L MFD) (A29)
  • Adaptive Flight-Display Unit (L PFD) (A27)
  • Junction Box 3 (JB3)
  • Traffic/Collision Avoidance System (TCAS) and Traffic Surveillance System (TSS) Transponder (A238)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Confirm all switches on the reversion select panel are selected to NORM.
  2. Reset L MFD Circuit Breaker CB1-C5 and L PFD Circuit Breaker CB1-C3. Is the fault message still present?

    1. If NO, do close out.
    2. If YES, continue with next step.

  3. Interchange L MFD (A29) with R MFD (A28). Is the fault message still present?

    1. If NO, do close out.
    2. If YES, continue with next step.

  4. Interchange L PFD (A27) with R PFD (A26). Is the fault message still present?

    1. If NO, do close out.
    2. If YES, continue with next step.

  5. Do wiring check between L MFD (A29), through JB3, and L PFD (A27) for the following wires:

    From: To: Result:
    Conn. A29P2 - 84 Conn. A27P2 - 84
    Conn. A29P2 - 85 Conn. A27P2 - 85

    1. If the check is not satisfactory, repair defective wiring or replace defective JB3.
    2. If the check is satisfactory, continue with next step.

  6. Do wiring check between L MFD (A29), through JB3, and TSS (A238) for the following wires:

    From: To: Result:
    Conn. A29P2 - 84 Conn. A238BP1 - E1
    Conn. A29P2 - 85 Conn. A238BP1 - F1

    1. If the check is not satisfactory, repair defective wiring or replace defective JB3.
    2. If the check is satisfactory, replace TSS (A238).

  7. Do close out.
