WHITE MESSAGE
Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Message Description:

TSS-TA/RA-2 bus is reported inactive by the right MFD and right PFD.

Possible Causes:

  • Traffic Alert and Collision-Avoidance System (TCAS) Transceiver (TSS-4100) (A238)
  • Adaptive Flight-Display Unit (PFD) 2 (A26)
  • Adaptive Flight-Display Unit (MFD) 2 (A28)
  • Junction Box (JB1)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Reset TCAS/XPDR 1 Circuit Breaker CB1-A5. Is the fault message still present?

    1. If YES, continue with next step.
    2. If NO, do close out.

  2. Swap the Right PFD (A26) with the Left PFD (A27). Is the fault message present?

    1. If YES, continue with next step.
    2. If NO, replace defective PFD.

  3. Swap the Right MFD (A28) with the Left MFD (A29). Is the fault message present?

    1. If YES, continue with next step.
    2. If NO, replace defective PFD.

  4. Do wiring check between Right PFD (A26), Right MFD (A28) and Traffic/Collision Avoidance System (TCAS) and Traffic Surveillance System (TSS) Transponder Unit (A238), through the Junction Box No. 1 (JB1) for the following wires:

    From To Results
    A26P2 - 84 A238EP1 - E1
    A26P2 - 85 A238EP1 - F1
    A28P2 - 84 A238EP1 - E1
    A28P2 - 85 A238EP1 - F1

    1. If wiring check is satisfactory, continue with next step.
    2. If wiring check is not satisfactory, repair the defective wire or the Junction Box No. 1.

  5. Replace Traffic/Collision Avoidance System (TCAS) and Traffic Surveillance System (TSS) Transponder Unit (A238).
  6. Do close out.
