Message Overview:

Message Name:

GALLEY CONTROL PANEL BLACK

Identifier: 441OBS003
Effectivity: Aircraft 20501 - 20999
System: nice® HD Cabin Management System
Associated CAS: None
Reporting LRU: GCP4110-001-001
System Description: SmartFix Plus 44-00-00, TUG C-ABT207-UG-001
Schematic Diagram: TUGC-ABT207-UG-001
Wiring Diagram: SWDM W1002467113 CMS Power Distribution

Message Description:

Galley Control Panel (GCP) stays black.

Possible Causes:

  • Screen Saver Active
  • Galley Control Panel (GCP)
  • Improper harness routing leads to damage of GCP: harness / connector near the Galley Control Panel (GCP)
  • Incomplete software update of EIU after installation
  • backlight set to zero
  • Associated Wiring

Required Conditions:

  1. Ensure nice® HD CMS/IFE system is booted up completely (power on and wait for about 5 minutes to ensure proper system status reporting).
  2. Touch Screen to verify screen saver activity.
  3. Patch cable connecting EIU with GCP directly.

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Gain access to the EIU 0x01
  2. If LED status indication on EIU 0x01 is NOT as described below, proceed with step 6.
    PWR, green: On, steady
BAT, green: blinking (repetitive Code: short, long)
    FLT, red: On (steady)
  3. Leave the system running and recheck the LED status indication every 5 minutes
  4. In case the LED status indication did not change after a total time of 30 minutes, the LRU is considered defective and needs to be replaced.
  5. After replacement, ensure to provide the following information together with the removed LRU to the repair-shop: Aircraft type: Aircraft MSN: Installation position (e.g 0x01): Failure: GCP stayed black; EIU LED status: PWR, green: BAT, green: FLT, red: T/S performed: number of this observed failure (440obs003 Galley Control Panel Black).
  6. Gain access to EIU 1 harness and at the GCP.
  7. Check routing of the harness for obvious damage. Make sure the harness bend radius does not exceed the maximum bend radius limit. (refer to pictures "GCP_harness_damage_01" and "GCP_harness_damage_02").
  8. Try to move the harness near the GCP and observe if black screen changes/vanishes/flickers.
  9. In case harness damage is located on the GCP harness, replace the GCP.
  10. Replace harness with a self-built patch cable in reference to "GCP PATCH HARNESS DRAWING".
  11. In case damage is located on the aircraft harness, repair defective wiring as required.
  12. If none of the above steps reveal any defects, contact the Bombardier Customer Response Center (CRC) for further assistance.
  13. Do close out.
