GALLEY CONTROL PANEL DISPLAYS GRAPHICAL ARTIFACTS

Identifier: 441OBS011
Effectivity: Aircraft 20501 - 20999
System: nice® HD Cabin Management System
Associated CAS: None
Reporting LRU: GCP4110-001-001
System Description: SmartFix Plus 44-00-00, TUG C-ABT207-UG-001
Schematic Diagram: TUG C-ABT207-UG-001
Wiring Diagram: SWDM W1002467113 CMS Power Distribution

Message Description:

Galley Control Panel (GCP) graphical artifacts (macro blocking/video quality lines and noises/flickering).

Possible Causes:

  • Galley Control Panel (GCP)
  • Harness Routing, leading to harness/connector damage near the GCP
  • Associated Wiring

Required Conditions:

  1. Ensure the nice® HD system is booted up completely (power on and wait for about 5 minutes to ensure proper system status reporting).
  2. On Galley Control Panel (GCP) navigate to home, CMS equipment page, select item "system software" and ensure the aircraft MSN is contained in "current p/n" (e.g. for Challenger C350, MSN 20613: p/n SCDC350-20613-A or p/n SCDC3-20613-04A).
NOTE: If p/n is incorrect, contact the Bombardier Customer Response Center (CRC) for further instructions.
  3. Use the GCP PATCH HARNESS to connect EIU with GCP.

Troubleshooting Tips:

Advisory Wire/Service Bulletin:

  • SB 350-44-001 - MODIFICATION - Cabin Management System (CMS) - System Configuration Database Software Update

Forum Articles/Infoservice/Newsletter:

  • To check for release of updated System Software - Configuration Server Database (CSDB), please refer to Bombardier CIC webpage technical library, Service Bulletins for Challenger 350.
  • Respective Lufthansa Technik "Engineering Bulletin Component" (EBC) documents are provided on this page as well.

More details in the nice® HD CMS/IFE system are available within the Lufthansa Technik document C-ABT207-UG-001, CL350 nice® HD Technical User Guide (TUG).

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. On the GCP, ensure the system status is reported "ready".
  2. In case another system status other than "ready" is reported, go to the related observed fault.
  3. Gain access to the harness between the GCP and EIU 1. Check routing of the harness for obvious damages (refer to attached pictures "GCP_harness_damage_01" and "GCP_harness_damage_02").

    1. If inspection is good, continue with next step.
    2. If defects are found, rectify as required.

  4. Try to rock the harness near the GCP and observe if distortion is witnessed again.

    1. If damage is located at the GCP harness, replace the GCP.
    2. If no damage is found this way, continue with next step.

  5. Replace harness with a self-built patch cable in reference to "GCP PATCH HARNESS DRAWING".

    1. If damage is found on the aircraft side wiring, repair defective wiring as required.
    2. If all steps above do not fix the graphical distortion, contact the Bombardier Customer Response Center (CRC) for further help.

  6. Do close out.
