Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Message Description:

Right Windshield Temperature Controller has failed.

Possible Causes:

  • Right Windshield Temperature Controller (A158)
  • Remote Data Concentrator (RDC) (A13)
  • Right Windshield
  • Associated Wiring

NOTES:

  • The L and R Windshield Temperature Control circuits and parts (including relays) can be used for troubleshooting if needed (interchange).
  • The Windshield Temperature Controllers and Side Window Temperature Controllers are different part numbers.
  • In case of transparency removal, fill the Transparency return form, send a copy to the CRC and attach a copy to the returned unit.

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Confirm status of circuit breaker. If the circuit breaker is open, find out the reason before resetting. If there is other Secondary Power Center related faults in the MDC, look for commonalities with the associated power bus (R MAIN BUS).
  2. Make sure WSHLD/WINDOW R PBA is ON.
  3. Measure 28 VDC at RWTC A158P1 pin U.

    1. If there is 28 VDC, go to step 7.
    2. If there is no voltage, continue with next step.

  4. Perform the resistance test of R Windshield Sensors as follows:
    NOTE: To perform this test correctly, you must disconnect the wires from the windshield terminals or from Terminal Block 3 (TB3) if you are measuring from that point.

    Condition S1 - SG (Resistance) S2 - SG (Resistance) S3 - SG (Resistance)
    at 65°F 307 ±5 Ω (nominal) 307 ±5 Ω (nominal) 307 ±5 Ω (nominal)
    at 80°F 318 ±5 Ω 318 ±5 Ω 318 ±5 Ω
    OPEN Circuit > 500 Ω > 500 Ω > 500 Ω
    SHORT Circuit < 225 Ω < 225 Ω < 225 Ω

    1. If a sensor reads outside the nominal values without being OPEN/SHORT, contact the Bombardier Customer Response Center (CRC) for a disposition. The OPEN/SHORT sensor will be rejected by the controller and the system will continue to be serviceable.
    2. If resistance is within tolerance, continue with next step.

  5. Interchange WSHLD/WINDOW PBAs.

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  6. Do wiring checks between anti-ice panel PL19 and right windshield temperature controller. Repair as required.

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  7. Replace anti-ice panel PL19.

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  8. Interchange WTCs.

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  9. Do wiring checks between RWTC and RDC. Repair as required.

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  10. Replace the Remote Data Concentrator (RDC).

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  11. Do close out.
