Select color for CAS message that you wish to troubleshoot

(WARNING)
RED MESSAGE (CAUTION)
AMBER MESSAGE (ADVISORY)
CYAN MESSAGE (STATUS)
WHITE MESSAGE Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Possible Causes:

  • Traffic/Collision Avoidance System (TCAS) Transceiver (A5)
  • Right Air Traffic Control (ATC) Transponder (TDR 2) (A30)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Tips:

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Reset TCAS Circuit Breaker CB1-A6 and XPDR 2 Circuit Breaker CB2-A5. Is the fault message still present?

    1. If YES, continue with next step.
    2. If NO, do close out.

  2. Do wiring check between the TCAS (A5) and the TDR 2 (A30) for the following wires:

    From To Results
    Conn. A5EP1 - 14H Conn. A30P2 - 11
    Conn. A5EP1 - 14J Conn. A30P2 - 12

    1. If check is satisfactory, continue with next step.
    2. If check is not satisfactory, repair defective wiring.

  3. Swap the Right TDR (A30) with the Left TDR (A31). Is the fault message still present\?

    1. If YES, continue with next step.
    2. If NO, replace the defective TDR.

  4. Replace TCAS (A5).
  5. Do close out.
