Message Description:

Section(s) of the cabin have lights that are inoperable.

Possible Causes:

  • Ethernet Interface Unit (EIU) 1
  • EIU 2
  • Passenger Control Unit (PCU)
  • Power Source
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Tips:

  • Make sure the EIU software is up to date. To check for release of updated System Software - Configuration Server Database (CSDB), please refer to Bombardier CIC webpage technical library, Service Bulletins for Challenger 350.
  • Respective Lufthansa Technik "Engineering Bulletin Component" (EBC) documents are provided on this page as well.

More details in the nice® HD CMS/IFE system are available within the Lufthansa Technik document C-ABT207-UG-001, CL350 nice® HD Technical User Guide (TUG).

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

More than one light inop:

  1. Access the EIUs and perform a visual inspection of the connections.

    1. If anomalies are detected, rectify as required.
    2. If all connections are properly installed, continue with next step.

  2. Swap EIU 1 with EIU 2. Is the fault still present?

    1. If YES, continue with next step.
    2. If NO or the fault has followed the EIU, replace defective EIU.

  3. Perform voltage and wiring checks between the EIU and the power source.

    1. If wiring defects are found, repair defective wiring as required.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.

  4. Perform wiring checks between the EIU and the light assemblies. repair defective wiring as required.
  5. Do close out.

One light inop:

  1. On the Galley Control Panel (GCP), activate the affected Read/Table light.

    1. If the light status changes from "OFF" to "ON", the connection to the PCIU is good, continue with next step.
    2. If the status of the light does not change, go to step 3.

  2. Check all the affected Read/Table light bulbs and wiring.

    1. If the check is good, continue with next step.
    2. If defects are found, repair/rectify as required.

  3. On the GCP maintenance page, check if the corresponding PCU Core Module is responding.

    1. If the PCU Core Module is responding, continue with next step.
    2. If the PCU Core Module is not responding, go to step 6.

  4. Check corresponding PCU Core Module IP address. PCU Core Module IP address should be 10.11.20.X where "X" is the location of the Module.

    1. If IP address is correct, contact the Bombardier Customer Response Center.
    2. If IP address is not correct, rectify the address and test system again.

  5. Do close out.
  6. Visually inspect the affected PCU Core Module and check if it is powered (Power LED lit).

    1. If the PCU Core Module is powered, continue with next step.
    2. If the PCU Core Module is not powered, go to step 4.

  7. Check if the affected PCU Core Module is connected to the correct (Ethernet Switch Unit) ESU port and check if the PCU Core Module rotary ID switch is set accordingly to its respective position.

    1. If the PCU Core Module is not connected to the proper ESU port or if the rotary is not set to the proper position, rectify and test the system again.
    2. If all checks are good, continue with next step.

  8. Perform a wiring check between the affected PCU Core Module and its respective ESU.

    1. If the wiring is good, continue with next step.
    2. If defects are found, repair defective wiring as required.

  9. Swap the PCU Core Module with a known good PCU Core Module. Contact the Bombardier Customer Response Center with the result of the swap.
  10. Do close out.
