Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Ensure that the CMS/IFE system is booted up completely (wait for about 5 minutes after power on to ensure proper system status reporting).
  2. On the Galley Control Panel (GCP), ensure that the system status is reported "ready".
  3. In case another system status than "ready" is reported, go to the related observed fault.
  4. Ensure that the display works properly by changing the video source (Navigate to media, video and selecting another available source, check that other sources (e.g. USB port or HDMI port) are displayed correctly).

    1. If the display stays black for all inputs, check power input and/or replace Passenger Control Unit.
    2. If the other video sources display properly, change video source back to Blu-ray and continue with next step.

  5. Eject the currently playing Blu-ray disc.
  6. Insert a Blu-ray disc which has been released before 2015 and start to "play" it.

    1. If the Blu-ray is playing the content as expected, follow instructions of Observed Fault 'Passenger Control Monitor displays Blu-ray Player Warning/Update Message'.
    2. If the Blu-ray released prior 2015 shows the same behavior as the first one, eject it.

  7. To check the disc drive of the Blu-ray Player, insert a DVD and start to "play" it.

    1. If the DVD shows same behavior as the Blu-rays, replace Blu-ray Player and repeat this procedure.
    2. If all steps above do not fix the black screen when playing a Blu-ray, contact the Bombardier Customer Response Center (CRC) for further help.

  8. Do close out.
