Overview
The air intake anti-icing system does not let ice collect on the air inlet of the engine cowl.
The air intake is the opening through which external air goes into the engine. It has a barrel assembly which is made with two carbon-composite panels.
The air goes into the engine through the air intake and is made hot by the high pressure (HP) compressor of the engine. The air is then supplied to the front of the inlet cowl through the supply duct and a piccolo tube. The air then comes out of holes in the piccolo tube directly on the inner surface of the inlet cowl not to let ice collect in this area. Used air is released overboard through the outlet duct.
