Overview
The stabilizers have a T-configuration and are installed on the empennage/tail. The empennage/tail is structurally attached to the rear fuselage. Access panels and a door give access for flight control component replacement and adjustment.
The horizontal stabilizer is a one-piece, variable-incidence stabilizer installed on top of the vertical stabilizer. The horizontal stabilizer incidence is adjusted by the horizontal stabilizer trim-actuator, which is electrically operated.
The elevators are attached to the horizontal stabilizer trailing edge. The elevators give longitudinal control. The elevators are operated by the hydraulic power-control units (PCU).
The vertical stabilizer is installed on the empennage/tail. The vertical stabilizer has attachments for the rudder.
The rudder is attached to the vertical stabilizer trailing edge. The rudder is operated by the hydraulic PCUs to give directional control.
