Overview
The doors on the aircraft give access to the flight compartment and the passenger compartment. They also give access to the cargo compartment. Other doors give access to other service points found outside the aircraft.
The passenger/crew access to the aircraft is by the passenger door. The passenger door is found on the left side of the aircraft, aft of the flight compartment. It is an air stair, which has a mechanical counterbalance and an attached door. The hinges are on the lower edge of the door opening. The door moves outward and downward through a cable system with a DC motor. If the motor is used, the door can be raised from in or out of the aircraft without aid.
There is one overwing emergency exit. The overwing emergency exit is found on the right side of the passenger compartment over the wing. The overwing emergency exit gives the passengers and the crew one more exit during an emergency.
Access to the cargo area is by the baggage compartment door. The baggage compartment door is found on the left side of the rear fuselage forward of the rear pressure bulkhead.
The service doors and panels give access to servicing points and to compartments that contain equipment where frequent maintenance is necessary. They include the aft equipment compartment door, nose fuselage doors, auxiliary power unit (APU) compartment doors, service doors and service panels.
The door warning system gives warnings of all dangerous conditions to the crew. The door warning system receives electrical signals from the proximity sensors and micro switches installed in or around the doors.
The door warning system has the proximity sensors that follow:
- Passenger Door Proximity Sensors
- Baggage Door Proximity Sensors
- Aft Equipment Compartment Door Proximity Sensors
- Refuel/Defuel Door Proximity Sensor
- Over Wing Emergency Exit Proximity Sensor
- No.3 Hydraulic System Servicing Door Proximity Sensor
