Wheel

The wheel is a 22 x 6.6 in (55.88 x 16.76 cm) split-hub type. The two nose wheels, each comprised of two forged aluminum, are joined by eight equally spaced tie bolts and are similar to the main wheel. The two wheel halves are sealed by a packing which is installed in the retaining groove.

Overview

An inflation valve, and over inflation plug are located 180 degrees apart in the outer wheel half. The outer wheel half also has a place where you can install a tire pressure indicator. The overpressure-relief plug is a stainless steel rupture disc, which releases pressure in a controlled manner in the event of an over pressurization (325 psi).

Overview

Tapered roller bearings are located in each wheel half, with bearing seals providing protection from dirt and moisture. The outer race of the bearing is made smaller so that it is installed tightly in the wheel.

Both the inner and outer wheel assemblies are balanced at the factory, with an "L" indicating the light side. The wheels are assembled with the "L" 180 degrees apart. The wheel and tire assembly may be balanced by replacing washers under the bolt heads with balancing weights.

Tire

The tire is a 21 x 7.25 in (53.34 x 18.41 cm) -10 ply - rating bias type VII tubeless. The tire is inflated with nitrogen to a specified pressure for the aircraft maximum takeoff weight (MTOW). The tire has a chine to eject the ground water away from the aircraft engines.
