Overview

The aft fuselage is found between FS781.00 and FS861.00 and includes the baggage compartment. The aft power distribution and Environmental Control System (ECS) compartment is also found in the aft fuselage below WL71.50. The aft fuselage is made from longerons, frames, and external sheet metal skins made stronger with stringers.

Surround Structure for the Baggage Compartment Door

The surround structure for the baggage compartment door extends between the frames at FS813.00 and FS861.00. The frames are the forward and the aft structural members of the door opening. The surround structure is made from a longeron, a top sill, a bottom sill, and a sill plate. The area around the door opening is made stronger with angles, gussets, and doublers. The door latch fittings and the door stop fittings are installed on these frames.

Aft Pressure Bulkhead

The aft pressure bulkhead is found at FS861.00 and seals the aft end of the fuselage pressurized zone. This also divides the baggage compartment from the aft equipment compartment. The bulkhead installed around the fuselage frame is made from two half-circle webs made stronger with stiffeners. The top web is attached to the fuselage frame and is made stronger with cap angles and splices. The bottom web is attached to fuselage frame and to the floor support structure. The stiffeners are attached to the adjacent skins, stringers, and floor structure. A horizontal beam is attached to the bulkhead rear face.

Aft Fuselage Floor

The aft fuselage floor is found between FS781.00 and FS861.00. The floor includes the support structure made from connected longitudinal and lateral beams. This also includes floor panels which extend into the baggage compartment for the baggage support.
