Attachment Fittings for the Power Plant and the Pylons to the Fuselage

Two support beams hold the power plants and the pylons to the fuselage. The beams are attached across the aft fuselage at FS925.00 and FS987.05. Four spar fittings are attached to the support beams and the fuselage frames. This supplies the attachment for the engine mounts.

The location of the upper and lower pylon attachments are on the left and right side of the fuselage between FS932.00 and FS1027.30.

Attachment Fittings for the Empennage/Tail to the Fuselage

The attachment fittings for the empennage/tail to the fuselage are as follows:

  • The support frame of the aft engine mount
  • Two frames for the vertical stabilizer middle and rear spars
  • Fittings

The front spar of the vertical stabilizer is attached with two fittings, and each have four legs. The location of the fittings is on the top of the aft engine mount at frame FS987.05. The top leg of the fitting is attached to the front spar of the vertical stabilizer. The bottom leg is vertical and is attached to the aft face of the fuselage frame. The forward leg is horizontal and attaches to the longeron platform in the aft fuselage. The aft leg is also horizontal and attaches to the upper skin panel aft of the fuselage frame.

Stringers from the middle spar and the rear spar of the vertical stabilizer extend into the fuselage section. The spars are attached directly to the fuselage frames.

Surround Structure for the Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) Access Doors

The APU access doors are found at the bottom of the fuselage between FS1041.00 and FS1105.00. Each door is attached to the structure with two hinges installed on the structure. The surround structure is made stronger with stiffeners, doublers, and webs.
