Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Overview

The belly fairings are aerodynamic covers which decrease the aerodynamic drag and give a good airflow below the fuselage.

Forward Wing-to-Fuselage Fairings

There are three forward wing-to-fuselage fairings. These fairings change the radial shape of the fuselage to the contour of the wing center section. They extend from FS483.00 to FS573.70. The fairings are attached to the bottom of the fuselage and to the wing leading edge.

The three fairings are made from a Nomex honeycomb core between carbon fibre skins. A copper wire-mesh screen is bonded to the outer carbon fibre ply of each fairing for lightning protection.

Under-Wing Fairings

There are four under-wing fairings. These fairings continue the contour of the forward wing-to-fuselage fairings below the wing. They extend from FS573.70 to FS719.00. The fairings are attached to the bottom of the fuselage. Seals are installed on the outboard edges of the fairings.

The four fairings are made from a Nomex honeycomb core between carbon fibre skins. A copper wire-mesh screen is bonded to the outer carbon fibre ply of each fairing for lightning protection.

A water drain is installed on the left and right-forward under-wing fairings. A fuel relief drain is also installed on the left-forward under-wing fairing. The left and right-aft under-wing-fairings each have a small, circular access panel. These give access to the fuel transfer pumps.

Aft Wing-to-Fuselage Fairings

There are seven aft wing-to-fuselage fairings that you can remove. These fairings shape the fuselage into the contour of the MLG fairing and the trailing edge of the wing. They extend aft from FS781.00 to FS945.00. The fairings are attached to the fuselage structure with bolts.

The fairings are made from a Nomex honeycomb core between carbon fibre skins. A copper wire-mesh screen is bonded to the outer carbon fibre ply of each fairing for lightning protection.

Over-Wing Fairings

There are six over-wing fairings which extend from FS576.45 to FS781.00. The fairings are attached to the fuselage structure with bolts. Seals are installed on the lower edges of the fairings to give a contour with the upper wing surface.

The six fairings are made from a Nomex honeycomb core between carbon fibre skins. A copper wire-mesh screen is bonded to the outer carbon fibre ply of each fairing for lightning protection.

Main Landing Gear (MLG) Fairings

There are four MLG fairings that you can remove. These fairings continue the contour of the aft wing-to-fuselage fairings into the MLG doors. The fairings are attached to the fuselage structure with bolts. They extend aft from FS719.00 to FS781.00.

The four fairings are made from a Nomex honeycomb core between carbon fibre skins. A copper wire-mesh screen is bonded to the outer carbon fibre ply of each fairing for lightning protection.
