Overview
Aileron Structure
Each aileron has the components that follow:
- Front spar
- Contoured Nomex honeycomb core
- Upper and lower skins
- Aluminum sheet edge skins
The aileron fittings have attachment points for the components that follow:
- Aileron hinges (No.1 through No.4)
- Output toggles of two power control units (PCUs)
- Aileron-position transmitter link-rod
The aileron structure has four access panels on the bottom leading-edge skin. These panels give access to the aileron fittings.
Spherical bearings are installed at the hinge locations. Press-fit bushing are used to hold the PCU output toggle and at the anti-float mechanism attachment.
Hinge Fittings
There are four hinge fittings for each aileron. These hinge fittings are attached to the support fittings on the rear spar of each wing. The hinge fittings are made from aluminum alloy and have spherical bearings installed in the pivot points.
Aileron Support Fittings
There are four support fittings for each aileron, two center support fittings, and two side support fittings. They are attached on the rear spar of each wing to install the ailerons.
The support fittings are made from aluminum alloy. The support fittings have press-fit bushings installed in the pivot points.
