Overview

The trailing edges hold the flight control surfaces and the flaps. The inboard trailing edge is attached to the auxiliary spar. The outboard trailing edge is attached to the rear spar. These structures have chemically milled aluminum alloy skins, stiffeners, channels, and box-type aluminum alloy ribs. The trailing edge has flaps to give more lift at take-off and approach.

The trailing edge in the flap area holds the spoilers and covers the space between the rear spar/auxiliary spar and the flaps. The trailing edge in the aileron area covers the space between the rear spar and the aileron.

Inboard Trailing Edge

The inboard trailing edge structure extends from WS47.61 to WS178.00 and is attached to the auxiliary spar. The structure has chem-milled aluminum alloy skins, stiffeners, channels, and box-type ribs. The ribs are made from aluminum alloy and include the integral webs.

Two actuator support fittings are attached to the auxiliary spar at WS101.66 and WS145.60 for the ground spoilers. Four hinge fittings are attached to the auxiliary spar at WS66.82, WS116.30, WS120.86, and WS170.34 for the ground spoilers. These actuator support and hinge fittings are made from aluminum alloy and have bushings installed at the hinge pivot points.

Outboard Trailing Edge

The outboard trailing edge structure extends from WS178.00 to WS404.00 and is attached to the rear spar. The structure has chem-milled aluminum alloy skins, stiffeners, channels, and box-type ribs. The ribs are made from aluminum alloy and include the integral webs.

Two actuator support fittings and four hinge fittings are attached to the rear spar at the stations that follow for the No. 1 and No. 2 multi-function spoilers:

  • WS211.83
  • WS258.72
  • WS190.54
  • WS233.12
  • WS237.43
  • WS280.01

Two actuator support fittings and four hinge fittings are attached to the rear spar at the stations that follow for the No. 3 and No. 4 multifunction spoilers:

  • WS321.60
  • WS370.34
  • WS299.27
  • WS343.93
  • WS348.01
  • WS392.67

These actuator support and hinge fittings are made from aluminum alloy and have bushings installed at the hinge pivot points.
